7 doctors from Maldives to be sent to Nepal for specialization
Health Ministry has provided the opportunity for 7 Maldivian doctors to go to Nepal for specialization. According to Health Ministry these doctors will specialize in 7 different areas.

State Minister for Health Dr. Muhammad Habeeb said that under an agreement made by Thribvan Medical Institute and the Health Ministry, 16 Maldivian doctors are training in the institute even now. He said that the first batch of these doctors will return to Maldives next year and start serving.

In addition, Dr.Habeeb said that even now 20 more doctors are getting specialized in another institute of Nepal. He said that so far 36 doctors have been sent abroad for specialization in the past 3 years.

He said that this is more than the number of doctors sent for specialization in the previous 10 years. Hence with the 7 doctors that were given the opportunity today, the total number of doctors given the opportunity to specialize by this government will be 43.

Dr.Habeeb said that the government gives a high priority to train Maldivian doctors because then only the services Maldivians require can be given perfectly. Government is trying to provide opportunities to specialize from other countries as well.
