Economic Ministry have stated that it is unacceptable to increase price of goods in Ramadan because there is high demand for some products in Ramadan.
Speaking to Miadhu News, Deputy Economic Minister Abdullah Muhammad said that even now they have taken many actions to prevent price hikes in Ramadan. He said that they have met with major importers and had talks with them.
“In those meetings, everyone said that they are ready for Ramadan and assured that there will not be price hikes due insufficient supply” said Abdullah. He said that unless there is a delay in ships arriving from India due to bad weather, price of products which are other than from India will be controlled according to the importers.
In addition, the deputy minister said that if there is less supply then it is okay to control the sales but artificially hiking the price is not acceptable. He said that the ministry will be closely monitoring the businesses.
