Health Minister Nazim have said that dialysis services can be given in L.Gan in a sustainable manner only when an RO plant is established in the island.
Speaking to the press after the function held to sign the contract to develop an RO plant and a plant house in L.Gan Hospital, the minister said that since the hospital provides dialysis service, an RO plant is very important.
Minister said that right now desalinated water required for dialysis is bought from Maandhoo fish factory. He said that the water is then loaded to pickups and then taken to the hospital to fill the tanks. He said that this RO plant will solve these problems and since only desalinated water can be used for dialysis, without desalinated water it will not be possible to give this service.
According to Health Ministry, 15000 Rufiyaa is spent per month to purchase desalinated water. Government will spend 3.4 million Rufiyaa to establish the RO plant in Gan.
