Government of Maldives has stated that there is no disruption for Maldivians to travel to Qatar even though the diplomatic relations between Maldives and Qatar has been suspended.
According to the foreign ministry even Qatari citizens can travel to Maldives freely and Maldives will not also prevent any Maldivians from travelling to Qatar. The minister said that the government will not take any actions that will disrupt relations between Maldivians and Qataris.
Last week the government of Maldives suspended all diplomatic relations with Qatar, and said that it was done under the zero-tolerance policy for terrorist activities. The government also stated that they are planning to take action against other organizations which has relations with terror organizations. However, government stated that economic relations with Maldives and Qatar will remain.
In addition to Maldives, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Yemen and Libya has suspended relations with Qatar saying that Qatar is trying to create unrest in the gulf.
