MWSC has been contracted with completing the fourth phase of Male’ drainage project for 12.9 million Rufiyaa. The agreement was signed during a ceremony held at Housing Ministry yesterday.
Dr.Muizzu the housing minister signed on behalf of Housing Ministry while Ibrahim Fazul the MD of MWSC signed on behalf of MWSC. Under the fourth phase of this project, flooding of Buruzu Magu will be stopped and it has to be completed within 8 months. Water pumping stations will be established near the street. Four pump stations will be developed under the project and water will be drained from Buruzu Magu at a faster rate than it does now.
Housing Minister said that phase four will be completed within the next ten months and as a result flooding will be controlled in major flood zones in Male’. Speaking at the ceremony, the MD of MWSC Fazul Rasheed said that their aim is to stop flooding in Ameenee Magu and Buruzu Magu once the project is completed.
