Villa College starts a mega project to generate 183 kilowatts of renewable energy
Villa College has started a mega project to generate 183 kilowatts of renewable energy. The total cost of the project is 4.2 million Rufiyaa.

In a ceremony held today at Villa College, the contract to implement the project was awarded to Avi Technology. The project should be completed within 100 days. Once the project is completed, 60 percent of day time electricity will be generated through this grid. That is 24,000 units per month.

Villa College needs 54,000 units of electricity per month. 183 kilowatts is the maximum electricity the college can generate using the roof of Villa College. This will be the largest project of this kind to be conducted by an educational institution.

The rector of Villa College, Dr.Ahmed Anwar said that the founder of Villa College, Qasim Ibrahim give a lot of importance to conduct everything in an environment friendly manner. “If we look at Villa College, our campus has the most pleasant environment among educational institutions of Maldives. Its decorated with plants and flowers. When we have renewable energy to complement that, then it will be a really good development” said Dr.Anwar.

Dr.Anwar thanked STELCO, BML and Environment Ministry for assisting in the project.
