Reform movement will see further developments with the experience of Maumoon : Qasim
Leader of JP, Qasim Ibrahim have said that the arrival of former president Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom to Maldives is a great encouragement to the reform activities in Maldives.

Speaking to the media after Maumoon came back to Maldives, Qasim said that with Maumoon’s experience the reform movement will further develop and they will be encouraged more.

Qasim expressed concerns because the republic square area was closed off during the time Maumoon came back to Male. Qasim said that preventing people from welcoming Maumoon will not be a credit for the government.

“The people did not create any violence. In addition to the people the parliament members and even I am not able to enter this area” said Qasim.

Qasim said that what people are doing today is working for reform and the people will be concerned about anything that prevents them from working for reform. Qasim praised the priority given to the reform activities by the people.

Qasim said that while all opposition leaders were in jail or in exile, the people showed their strength and courage. He thanked the people for this.

Maumoon was welcomed at the airport by opposition leaders and people who support him. People who welcomed him include Qasim Ibrahim, Mariya Didi and Ibrahim Muhammad Solih.
