Muhammad Zaahid has been appointed as a member of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives.
Zaahid was officially given the credentials by the president in a ceremony held at the president office today. Zaahid used to be the deputy president of HRCM when it was first created.
Until today, Zahid was the deputy minister at Gender Ministry. Zahid was given approval by the parliament last Tuesday and 57 members voted for him. Five members voted against him while 5 members abstained.
