The government has stated that former vice president Ahmed Adeeb is capable to bring consultants from abroad to treat him if he is not happy with the medical services available in Maldives.
Speaking to the press today at the President’s Office the Attorney General Muhammad Anil said that no country will allow someone who has committed heinous crimes to flee. He said that if Adeeb is allowed to leave the country to seek healthcare it is highly possible that he will not return. “A lot of money that were lost in the MMPRC case is outside Maldives” said Anil.
“In which country will they allow someone who tried to assassinate the president to flee the country? In which country will they allow someone who is suspected of stealing over 80 million dollars? “questioned Anil.
Anil said that the government is not preventing Adeeb from getting medical attention but the government will not allow Adeeb to leave the country.
Anil also noted that ACC has not yet completed the investigation of MMPRC case even though it is two months past the date they promised to sum up the investigation.
