Former President Maumoon have said that the work done by the opposition coalition is only for reform and they do not have any plans to make someone the president or to remove someone from that post.
Speaking at a rally held by the opposition coalition at Kunooz tonight, Maumoon said that they want the country to see better days.
“Many people are unhappy and are in constant fear. Anything will happen at any time. People have lost trust in the institutions. There is no guarantee that things will go in accordance with the law” said Maumoon.
President Maumoon said that a member who signed the impeachment motion at first and then later claimed to have not signed it, is because he felt that he and his family is in danger. “He was forced to say that he did not sign. This is the fear I am talking about” said Maumoon.
In addition he said that no one wants Maldives to be a place where everyone lives in fear and everyone wants Maldives to be a peaceful place. He said that people want everyone to have freedom to do what they want.
Maumoon also noted the work done by Qasim Ibrahim in reform works and the challenges faced by Qasim Ibrahim in this regard.
