People will not have to take to the streets if the parliament is doing their job : Dr.Majeed

Former Islamic Minister Dr.Majeed have said that if the parliament is doing their job, people will not have to take to the streets.

He said that the second caliph of Muslims Umar Bin Hahthaab cried when he was appointed as the caliph. He cried because even if he makes a mistake, there might not be people who will not try to correct him based on his personality. Dr.Majeed said that Caliph Umar found someone who assured that he will correct Umar even if he makes a mistake. He said that in this age it is not possible for one person to hold the ruler accountable and hence political parties are now doing that job.

In addition, he said that the parliament should hold the government accountable and oversight committees in the parliament are for that reason. He said that the speaker of the parliament should allow these committees to function properly.

Dr.Majeed said that if these committees are allowed to investigate unlawful and corrupt activities of the government, then the country will be stable.
