Maldives Pension Administration Office have stated that they have so much money in the pension fund that they do not know what to do with it.
Speaking at the Maldives Finance Expo, the CEO of Pension Administration Office Mohammed Hussein Manik said that there is more than 6 billion Rufiyaa in the fund and that they get around 78 million Rufiyaa per month.
Manik said that they are allocating money from the fund for pensioners to buy housing. He said that they have provided financing for 21 people. “What is important is being a customer and having sufficient funds in the account. We are arranging funds for those who fulfil these requirements” said Manik.
In addition he said that they have money to lend to construct houses and laws are needed for that.
