Housing Minister Dr.Muizzu have said that the work of developing 40,000 housing units is going on and it at various stages.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of Maldives Financial Expo 2017 Dr.Muizzu said that most of the housing units will be developed in Hulhumale but work of developing housing units in other islands is going on.
In addition, the minister said that the government prioritizes social housing projects and under social housing 7000 housing units will be developed in Hulhumale’. “ Now the work of foundation is going on. Loan agreements will be signed soon”
Dr.Muizzu said that 7000 housing units will be completed before this term ends and will be handed over to the owners. In addition, he said that even though the government is conducting social housing, many private companies are conducting high end and mid-range housing units.
Dr.Muizzu said that it is important to arrange finance for housing schemes. Dr.Muizzu said that more housing units will be developed in Male’ as well. He said that the government will develop mid-range housing units and high-end housing units in Male’. “Opportunities for new projects will be opened next year” said Dr.Muizzu.
