MIFCO has increased the rate at they buy fish from fishermen. They increased one Rufiyaa from each kilogram.
Speaking at a press conference held at STO’s head office, the MD of STO Ahmed Shaheer said that they have decided to increase the price they buy fish starting from tomorrow.
Shaheer said that the price of fish in world market was stable in the past few months and hence they make good profits by selling fish. He said that MIFCO wants to share such profits with the fishermen.
He said that in that regard they have reduced price of oil two times in the past few months. Shaheer said that some facilities of MIFCO are worn out but still they try to provide the best possible service to fishermen. In addition he said that they Fisheries Ministry, MIFCO, and Finance Ministry has organized some projects and the financing for these projects have been secured.
Shaheer assured that they will be able to provide better services to the fishermen in near future.
In addition Shaheer said that the president gives high priority to the fisheries sector and continues to give instructions to develop the sector. Till today MIFCO was buying one kilogram of unfrozen fish for 17 Rufiyaa and one kilogram of frozen fish for 19 Rufiyaa.
