STELCO has deducted fuel surcharge after the government reduced duty on fuel by 5 percent. Speaking at a press conference held at STELCO today the director of STELCO Muhammad Latheef said that they have decided to deduct fuel surcharge completely. He said that hence this change will be reflected on electricity bills as well.
In addition, he said that, on a monthly basis the customers will pay 8.54 million Rufiyaa less than they used to. He said that the change will be seen from the bills of August. He said that 4.57 million Rufiyaa from private homes and 3.97 million Rufiyaa from businesses will be deducted. Furthermore he said that 70 percent of the private users use less than 600 units of electricity and hence they will see a decrease of 10 to 15 percent from their electricity bills.
Mohammed Latheef said that 7 to 9 percent will be deducted from those who use above 600 units. In addition businesses which use less than 1000 units will see a decrease of 6-7 percent in their bills while those who use above 1000 units will see a 6 percent decrease according to Latheef.
