Civil Court has decided to conduct open hearings in the case filed by Yameen Rasheed against Maldives Police Service.
The family filed a case against the police, saying that there was negligence on their side. In the case filed by Yameen’s family they stated that even though Yameen filed complaints to the police about the death threats he received, the police took no action.
Lawyer of Yameen’s family Husnu Suood said that the state requested to hold closed door hearings saying that it will hinder the ongoing investigation of Yameen’s death. However when Yameen’s family did not agree to those terms the court decided to conduct open hearings.
