If parliament members have to vote as the party desires then they cannot work in accordance with the oath of the office : Mariya
MP for Mahchangoalhi North, Mariya Didi have said that if parliament members have to vote as the party desires then they cannot work in accordance with the oath of the office.
Speaking at a press conference held at Kunooz last night Mariya said that the biggest responsibility of the members are holding the government accountable and bringing development to their constituencies. Hence, if the political party which they belong to obstructs this, it is unacceptable to have laws that will prevent the parliament members from working freely.
Mariya said that if Supreme Court issues a verdict as PG requested then the parliament members cannot do anything to hold the government accountable without approving it from their parties first. She said that in that situation the members cannot work in accordance with the oath of the office.
MP for Meedhoo constituency Rozain Adam said that if the court issues this verdict the parliament cannot hold any institution accountable and hence all the options they have now will also be closed.
All the members who took part in the press conference said that the case filed by the AG is unlawful and that they do not believe that the Supreme Court will support it.
