I am being taken to the court all the time to defame me : Qasim

Qasim Ibrahim the leader of JP have said that he is being summoned to the court all the time, to defame him.

Speaking at a press conference held last night, Qasim said that his case was thrown out of the court because PG lawyers failed to attend the hearing however the PG has refiled the case again.

“I see this as an attempt to defame me. I believe that or else the lawyers would not have left the hearing” said Qasim. Qasim said that the PG is not a cabinet member and the PG is appointed and removed by the cabinet and hence the PG should be independent.

“Now we are seeing that things are going in another direction. She withdrew the case of Ibrahim Didi. However she has filed it again. This is like a game now. If things happen in this regard people will lose trust” said Qasim.

Qasim Ibrahim said that the parliament should be able to investigate suh cases and the legislations allow the parliament to do so.

When a journalist asked a question about Qasim trying to bring a coup, referring to the statements made by PPM parliament members, Qasim said that he has been working for reform since 1984 and he has never done anything unlawful and will not do in future. “I assure this to the people”.

A total of 39 parliament members took part in the meeting. Five members who are abroad spoke via mobile phone.
