Supreme Court has issued a verdict which will result in parliament members losing their seats if they cross the floor or are expelled from the party.
The case was presided over by three supreme court judges and the ruling was issued by the three judges unanimously. The verdict stated that once the Election Commission decides that the member has left the party, then the member will not be considered a member of the party.
Supreme Court also ordered the relevant authorities to pass a legislation regarding floor crossing of parliament members. Based on this verdict those who wrote letters asking to be removed from parties are still members of these parties unless they are removed by Elections Commission.
