Police arrests Faaris Maumoon

Maldives Police Service has arrested Faaris Maumoon the MP for Dhihggaru constituency. He was arrested moments ago and is being taken to Dhoonidhoo now.

Faaris Maumoon’s lawyer Maumoon Hameed also confirmed the news. Police arrested Faaris Maumoon after conducting an operation at his house. Police searched his residence with a court order. Police also confiscated documents, memory sticks and other related materials from his house.

Previously Police Service released a statement saying that they have evidence of Faaris Maumoon offering bribes to parliament members to get their support in the censure motion against the speaker of the parliament.
