MP for Henveyru North, Abdullah Shahid have said that the constitution cannot be interpreted in whatever way anyone wants.
Speaking at the national council meeting of MDP held last night, Shahid said that the constitution clearly identifies how elected people can be removed from their posts and hence no state institution can remove them in any other way.
Shahid said that if anyone is expelled from their positions unconstitutionally they should request the Supreme Court to stop it and take other necessary actions.
Speaking at last night’s meeting MP for Hinnavaru Ibrahim Mohammed Solih said that if there is any dispute about the status of a parliament member the Supreme Court should decide and no other institution can decide.
Ibrahim Mohammed Solih said that now there is no rule of law in Maldives and the people of Maldives knows what to do next.
There has been dispute about interpreting the ruling of the Supreme Court regarding the parliament members.
Meanwhile Elections Commission have stated that 4 members have lost their seats and announced a bi-election.
