MP for Hithadhoo central constituency retired Brigadier Ibrahim Didi have said that no religion except Islam should be allowed in Maldives and if MDP advocates for another religion he will leave MDP.
“In such a situation, will not stay in MDP even for a second. I ask the people not to fall in to the trap of the opposition when they use religion as a weapon” said Ibrahim Didi.
Speaking at a gathering held at Kunooz last night Ibrahim Didi said that no political party has the right to choose the religion of Maldives and it is up to the people of Maldives to do so. He said that even if people point fingers at each other calling them secular, the people of Maldives will not want any other religion than Islam to be in Maldives.
Speaking about the importance of the constitution he said that after the holy Quran, constitution is the most important document and protecting the constitution is a huge responsibility. “There should be a constitution in a state. In an Islamic state the constitution should not contradict with Islamic Shariah.” Said Ibrahim Didi.
He said that one of the most important component in a constitution should be justice and an unjust constitution will not be complete and should not be accepted.
