Show mercy and compassion to those in need : Friday sermon
Today’s Friday sermon has called to show mercy and compassion to those in need. It was stated that Islam is the religion of compassion and kindness.

For instance, today Qasim Ibrahim is in need of kindness and compassion. He is being treated at ICU of ADK since 16th of this month. A lot of people believe that Qasim is the greatest philanthropist Maldives has ever seen.

His health is in grave danger and the doctors have been saying that he cannot be treated in Maldives. Even though it has been 5 days since then, so far there has been no progress in terms of getting permission from the government for Qasim to leave Maldives for treatment.

It is not that he does not have money or Aasandha or other means. He is not able to leave because the Criminal Court is refusing to give him permission to leave. It should be noted that the government has allowed people who were suspected of much more serious crimes to leave Maldives for treatment.

Sermon should not be something that we listen to only but it should be acted upon. Hence based on the sermon Qasim should be allowed to leave for medical treatment.

Today’s sermon called for unity and not to create factions. It also advised not to create hatred and disputes. Hence this is what we should do because this is the way of Islam. Maldives has always been a peaceful nation and the unity among Maldivians is an example for the whole world.

If these good qualities are eradicating from Maldivian society, researches should be done to find out why. Most people say that is happening due to great injustices. We have to check if this is true and should be corrected if so.

Without correcting these problems, asking to be united and to live in harmony will be useless.
