Parliament members got angry today, when police moved away parliament members and journalists away from the Criminal Court.
MP for Kaashidhoo constituency, Faisal Naseem said that they were moved away from the court like shooing away hens. He said that this is a matter of great concern.
Former MP for Thulusdhoo constituency Muhammad Waaheed said that even during time of war journalists are allowed but in Maldives journalists cannot even cover a court hearing. MP Ibrahim Hassan of Thoddoo constituency said that the police is treating them as if they are a herd of goats.
Police always clear the court area when court hearings of politicians are taking place. Journalists are kept in a specific area designated for them by the police.
Police say that it is done to keep the streets clear.
