Broadcasting Commission of Maldives has decided to take action against media stations which live telecast unlawful protests.
In a meeting held by the commission today, they decided that action shall be taken against TV stations which live telecast gatherings which does not comply with the law.
Meanwhile the opposition has planned a protest for tomorrow in Male’.
A statement by the commission states that, broadcasters will be held liable if they telecast any unlawful protests or promote any protests which are being held without permission from the relevant authorities.
In addition it said that they have received complaint that some broadcasters are encouraging to topple the government.
While the opposition is asking people from all over the Maldives to join the protest, the police have stated that they will not allow anyone to protest in Male’.
