Faaris Maumoon, the MP for Dhiggaru constituency has been given an additional chance to prepare for the charges against him. Criminal Court has decided to conduct a hearing on 31st of this month.
In today’s hearing at the Criminal Court, Faaris Maumoon’s lawyer Maumoon Hameed said that today’s hearing is about presenting the basis of Faaris Maumoon’s defence but Faaris was not given the time prepare for it.
In addition, Maumoon said that Faaris was arrested after the hearing on 17th July and he was not given the chance to meet with the lawyers after that.
Maumoon said that even though it was arranged for police to question Faaris Maumoon for today’s hearing, they messaged saying that the questioning has been changed to 9:00 am. Maumoon said that the interviewing ended at 10:30 am and hence he did not get adequate time to prepare for the hearing.
