PPM have said that the people’s rejection of former politics and obedience to the law is proof of the support to the government.
A statement by PPM says that the opposition consists of leaders who were active in Maldivian politics for the past 35 years. The statement says that when people refused to accept their calls for protests, it shows that the people have said no to former politics and decided to obey the law. In addition it says that, this also shows that the people support government’s effort to revive nationalism.
When opposition called for people to protest last night, police used pepper spray to disperse crowds. Police also arrested several people including journalists. However journalists were later released.
