Home Ministry have said that they will take action against those who try to create violence and encourage unlawful activities.
A statement by the ministry states that the government is disappointed to see that people who have filled senior government positions in the past, are encouraging unlawful activities and noted that the people of Maldives do not support such activities.
The ministry condemned the action of the opposition during Pakistani Prime Minister’s visit to the Maldives. Ministry stated that the opposition tried to portray a wrong image of Maldives to the PM of Pakistan.
In addition, they stated that the unlawful protests and the confrontations against police are not scenes that can be shown to children and the youth of this nation and hence should be stopped. Also, they noted that protests or gatherings that are held outside the Henveyru Carnival area will be unlawful.
Home Ministry also stated that they will prosecute those who take part in the protests and that no one will be exempted in doing so.
