MP Mohammed Waheed, Saud Hussein and Mohammed Ameeth’s remand cases are to be appealed.
Speaking to the press at M.Kunooz lawyer Ali Zahir said that it is the Supreme Court’s mandate to remove parliament members from their seats and the Criminal Court cannot make a decision in that regard.
“The problem starts from the Elections Commission. EC decided to remove 4 members. However a decision has not been made by the SC regarding this case. Only Supreme Court can make a decision” said Ali Zahir.
Ali Zahir said that the Criminal Court does not have the authority to make a decision regarding a case in which only Supreme Court has the authority to make a decision. He said that hence he hopes to win the case in the appeal court. He said that he will try to file the case at High Court tomorrow.
