Maldivian Independence Day celebrated in Malaysia !
Maldivian Independence Day has been celebrated in Malaysia. A statement by the Maldivian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur states a ceremony was held in the ball room of JW Marriot Hotel to celebrate the 52nd Independence Day of Maldives. The chief guest of the ceremony was Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister of Malaysia Dr.Abu Bakr Mohamed Dia.

According to the embassy in the past two years the Independence Day ceremony was held only for the Maldivians living in Malaysia however, this year diplomats, Malaysian government officials and business community were invited.

This year’s ceremony was held with the motto “Promoting tastes and cultures of Maldives”. Two yellowfin tunas were displayed at the ceremony. It was done with the assistance of Enzi. In addition, they said that fresh tuna was barbequed and a Dhivehi food corner was there at the ceremony.

Furthermore, Furvali Island and Spa, and Veligandu Island Resort offered chance to spend holiday in the Maldives. Winners were chosen among those who attended the ceremony. Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation sponsored the holiday packages. In addition, three return tickets between Maldives and Malaysia were given by Air Asia.
