The Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency James Dauris, called on His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Asim, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives this morning.
The Minister and Ambassador discussed the bilateral relations between the Maldives and the United Kingdom, and ways of further strengthening the existing ties, in areas such as counter terrorism, climate change and cooperation in other broader international issues.
Minister Asim also thanked the government of the United Kingdom for establishing a temporary visa application center in the Maldives, which aims to ease the visa application process especially for the students. The temporary visa application center will be established at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 16 August 2017.
The meeting was attended by the Foreign Secretary, His Excellency Ahmed Sareer and Ms. Shiuneen Rasheed, Assistant Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
