MP Faaris Maumoon has been dismissed from the petition committee of the parliament.
He was removed during a time that committee has requested to summon him to a meeting of the committee.
According to reliable sources, he was removed from the committee upon a request from PPM PG leader Nihaan Hussein Manik. MP Ibrahim Didi of Feydhoo constituency was appointed to the committee instead of Faaris.
At the moment Faaris is under detention and he is suspected of bribing parliament members. Parlaiment regulations states parliament members who are in police detention should be allowed to attend parliament committees and sessions of the parliament. However, Faaris was not taken to the committee meeting on Monday.
