Health Minister Naazim has called smokers not to harm other people’s health by smoking around them, saying that smoking is their personal freedom.
Speaking at ceremony held at Hotel Jen to mark World Hepatitis B Day, the minister said that Maldives have made regional achievements in terms of controlling communicable diseases. He said that however, non-communicable diseases are increasing. The minister noted that number of young people who get cancer are on the rise in Maldives.
Nazim said that when doing business and other social work it is important to think about the wellbeing of others.
In addition he said that often we talk about prevention is better than cure and it will be impossible to stay in good health without acting upon this. He said that more people should talk about these issues.
