Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer have said that no government has served and developed the country like the current government, and asked why anyone should topple the government.
Speaking at a function held by PPM this afternoon at STELCO, Moosa Zameer said that after submitting censure motions against the speaker of the parliament, then the opposition tried to get 60 members to impeach the president. He said that there is no reason for them to do this.
Moosa Zameer said that violence crimes have been on the rise starting from 30 to 40 years back and statistics show that this government controlled violent crimes. He said that hence, this government should not be blamed for these things.
He said that when the government started developed the airport after investing one billion dollars, three companies invested 1.5 billion dollars in the tourism sector.
“If we look at the tourism industry, prior to 2008 only 2.5 resorts opened per year. But now 6 resorts are opened every year. We have opened many new harbors. We have established sewage systems and water systems in many islands. Developing 7000 housing units at once is not something any previous ruler even imagined” said Moosa Zameer.
Moosa Zameer also said that now more Maldivians are going to tourists resorts in Maldives because they are able to save money because they do not have to go abroad for treatment.
He said that now there are over one million tourists’ arrival every year and Maldives is benefitting from it. Zameer said that for all these reasons people should applaud for this government.
