JP leader Qasim Ibrahim has been admitted at ADK hospital and today’s hearing at the criminal court has been cancelled. He was admitted at 9:00 am today.
Secretory General of JP, Ahmed Sameer said that since yesterday afternoon Qasim’s health has been deteriorating and his health was so bad today, he had to be admitted.
ADK, Medica and IGMH has recommended Qasim to go abroad for treatment stating that he cannot be treated in Maldives.
Qasim’s lawyers have requested the criminal court and the supreme court to allow Qasim to leave the country. In addition, they have been requesting at all the hearing to review the order to withhold his passport. However till today the courts have not lifted the travel ban on Qasim.
Since 16th, Qasim was treated at ADK and Medica for 9 days. He was summoned to a hearing at the court the day after he got discharged from the hospital. He went to the court with the help of other people.
In the second hearing, the hearing had to be stopped because of Qasim’s ill health. Hence this shows that the judge who issued the travel ban on Qasim knows well about Qasim’s health condition.
