People in pre-trial detention are treated worse than those who are serving jail sentences : Ali Zahir
Vice President of AP, Ali Zahir have said that people in pre-trial detention are treated worse than those who are serving jail sentences.

He said that during a press conference held today by the lawyers of MP Saud Hussein, MP Mohammed Ameeth and MP Mohammed Waheed. Sheikh Ali Zahir said that the MPs who are in detention are exempted from fulfilling their constitutional duties. He said that each passing day where they are in jail is oppression.

In addition Ali Zahir said that they have written letters to all the relevant authorities regarding this matter but so far no one has responded.

“We have sent letters to PG, Supreme Court, HRCM and all other relevant authorities. But so far we did not get any response” said Ali Zahir.
Ali Zahir said that parliament members should get special privileges in jail but the MPs do not get any.
