MP Saud’s lawyer have said that in the hearing of the case filed by Saud against EC after EC declared his seat as vacant, the state’s lawyers lied even today. He said that he proved everything on behalf of Saud even though the lawyers lied.
Speaking to the press after the hearing, Saud’s lawyer said that even though the PG lawyers said that Saud spoke at the Majlis under a PPM slot even after he was ‘removed’, he did not speak under a slot of PPM.
In addition he said that even though the state said that Saud did not submit his resignation letter to PPM on 10th July, they have proved that he did submit the letter on this date. The lawyer said that the PG lawyers act like this in all the hearings and he does not believe that they lie due to misinformation.
Furthermore, the lawyer said that they got the chance to present their case during today’s hearing. “I presented everything on Saud’s behalf very clearly. Now the judge can issue a verdict very easily. I am pretty sure that the judges will issue a just verdict” said the lawyer.
The lawyer said that he is sure that the seat for Villingili constituency will not be vacant. He said that he has high hopes that the decision made by EC will be invalidated. Saud’s lawyer also stated that Saud gets all the privileges that other prisoners get at Dhoonidhoo prison.
It is a crime to lie at the Supreme Court. In countries like India, those who lie in front of the judge are even jailed up to 5 years for providing False information.
