Independent institutions do not investigate cases because they think they are subordinate to the President’s Office : Dr.Hussein
Deputy Leader of JP, Dr.Hussein Rashed have said that the independent institutions in the country fail to investigate corruption cases such as MMPRC case because they believe that they are subordinate to the President’s Office.

Speaking at a press conference held by the opposition coalition, Dr.Hussein said that if the independent institutions of the state are indeed independent they should investigate cases proactively. Dr.Hussein said that what the President said while speaking at the opening ceremony of Rumaalu2 the new PPM campaign center, is something that can be investigated by any court in the Maldives if they wished to do so.

Lawyer Hisaan said that if the President knows that some PPM members got elected with the money Adeeb stole, then he should know who these members are and hold them accountable. Hisaan said that the president on several occasions revealed what they did with the money stolen by Adeeb. She said that the president however did not reveal any details and he should do so.

In addition Hisaan said that they will report what president Yameen said to the anti-corruption commission. Also, she said that she will file a case about ACC to the National Integrity Commission for delaying the investigation of previous cases of this nature.

Meanwhile, PPM have said that the opposition is trying to misinform the public by twisting the President’s speech from last night.
