A Malaysian newspaper has reported that Maldives have expressed interest in taking part in marking Quran Hour this year even. This hour is marked on Arafath Day every year.
Quoting the Chancellor of IUM, Dr.Shaheem Ali Saeed, the newspaper reported that that IUM is talking with the education ministry to conduct Quran hour in all schools of Maldives.
“Dr.Shaheem sees that all Muslims should recite a portion of the Quran every day, and learn the meaning as well. Dr.Shaheem believes that once people know the meaning of the Quran there will be a good solution to problems like terrorism” reported the news.
Dr.Shaheem has not made any comment regarding the news article yet.
Quran Hour was marked in Maldives for the first time, last year by Islamic University of Maldives.
