STELCO have stated that the aim of the government and STELCO is to provide electricity without an disruptions.
Speaking at a press conference held today, after the power outage in Male’ last night, Ibrahim Nashid the director of STELCO said that they are talking with a foreign company to do a study on the network and power system of Male’.
He said that the power outages are not due to a failure in generating sufficient electricity, but due to some problems with the network. He said that they work a lot to reduce time of the power outage.
In addition, he said that the government is conducting two projects to solve this problem. They are the Male’-Hulhumale’ interconnect project and the 50-megawatt power plant project in Hulhumale’. He said that with these projects these problems will be solved.
