Trials of the parliament members who obstructed the duties of law enforcement officers has begun.
The state is charging 12 parliament members for obstruction of justice. The members were summoned to the Criminal Court this morning and documents related to their case were handed over to them. They are being charged of bypassing the police lines near the parliament on 24th of July.
The parliament members who are being charged are :
Abdullah Shahid
Mohammed Abdul-Kareem
Mohamed Falaah
Ibrahim Mohammed Didi
Mohammed Aslam
Abdullah Riyaz
Mohammed Waheed Ibrahim
Ibrahim Mohammed Solih
Ali Hussein
Hussein Areef
Saud Hussein
Mohammed Ameeth
Out of these members, Mohamed Waheed, Ameeth and Saud are also being charged for illegally entering to the parliament compound. They are being charged for this because at the time of their entrance to the compound, the Elections Commission have declared that they have lost their parliament seat.
