MWSC has been contracted with developing water systems in Sh.Milandhoo and R.Ungoofaaru. Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim signed the agreements on behalf of the ministry while Deputy Managing Director of MWSC Abdullah Saheel Jaleel signed the agreements on behalf of MWSC.
The project is funded by Opec Fund for International Development and from the state budget. This loan agreement was signed on 3rd July 2015.
The project was designed by Green Tech Consultants, a Sri Lankan company. The designed project was contracted on 6th September 2015.
The total cost of the project is 87,956,026.93 million Rufiyaa. Under the project, water supply systems will be developed in 10 islands. The development work is going on in these islands.
Once the project is over, clean water will be available from Sh.Milandhoo and R.Ungoofaaru. The project should be completed within 16 months starting from the day the agreement was signed.
