SG of JP Ahmed Sameer have said that the statement issued by IGMH regarding Qasim Ibrahim does not refute the statement issued by the cardiologist.
Sameer said that even though an administrative statement was issued using political influences, saying that Qasim is in good health, this is not true. “Such a document might say Qasim is in best health condtions and he is running and jumping, but how can it be true.”
Sameer said that no matter how much some people wants it, the constitution says that a criminal hearing cannot be conducted in absentia of the defendant and hence he does not believe that Qasim’s trial can be conducted in absentia.
Prosecutors are in the court right now and more updates will follow when they go out from the court.
