JP SG Ahmed Sameer have said that Maldives Correctional Service have stated that they will send Qasim Ibrahim abroad for treatment.
Sameer said that Corrections was informed of Qasim Ibrahim’s jail sentence today and they visited IGMH and formally took Qasim into their custody. However, Qasim has not been taken to prison and is still at IGMH.
Sameer said that last night’s verdict also shows that he should not be taken to jail and that his health should be the highest priority at the moment.
Qasim was admitted at IGMH after he collapsed during yesterday’s court hearing. Qasim was sentenced to three years in jail last night.
