22 participants have completed the training of trainers on gender conducted by Gender Ministry.
The program was conducted from 8th to 14th of this month with the help of Asian Development Bank. The purpose of the program is to familiarize state institutions regarding gender related issues and to develop trainers who can spread awareness within the institutions.
The participants we taught that gender discrimination is the result of a social construct and also they were taught about the negative consequences of gender discrimination. In addition, they were given information about laws and international conventions that Maldives has signed to protect gender rights.
22 different individuals belonging to various state institutions completed this 5-day program. A certificate of participation was given to the participants by State Minister for Gender Dr.Mariyam Jabeen.
