Government has invited former President Maumoon Abdul Qayyoom and leaders of opposition parties to take part in all party talks.
Speaking to the press today at the President’s Office, Fisheries Minister Dr.Shainee who is leading the party talks from the government’s side said that Maumoon was invited because it is seen that Maumoon is the opposition leader now.
Dr.Shainee said that the opposition must not make demands about anyone who is in jail and that they should prioritize national interests.
Meanwhile, the leader of JP has been jailed for 3 year 2 months and 12 days. Previously President of MDP and President of AP were also given a jail sentence. Maumoon is the only leader who has not been jailed yet.
Speaking to the press, Dr.Shainee said that since the AG Mohamed Anil did not tell him if he entered the Supreme Court in the middle of the night, he is not aware that it happened.
