The four parliament members who were unseated by the Elections Commission have stated that they are doing whatever they can to prevent bi-elections in their constituencies.
In a press conference held today Mohamed Ameeth said that the lawyers are discussing to file the case at the Supreme Court or to a lower court.
The members said that from the verdict of the Supreme Court it is very evident that they will not lose their seats and that the government is misinforming the public. The members noted that no prominent lawyer in the Maldives have said that they will lose the seats.
Lawyers are also concerned that the Supreme Court verdict was not clear. Lawyers are saying that this does not happen anywhere else in the world and the people does not have to worry about interpreting a Supreme Court verdict.
