Supreme Court refuses to accept the petition filed by lawyers regarding the judiciary !
Lawyers who were involved in filing a petition to the Supreme Court expressing their concerns about the judiciary have said that the Supreme Court refused to accept the petition.

56 lawyers signed a petition and went to the court to submit it today. Mahfooz Saeed who led this activity said that Supreme Court refused to accept the petition which highlighted 14 points. He said that they were not able to meet anyone regarding the matter.

He said that the petition requested to further strengthen and reform the judiciary. “We will still try to submit the petition to the parliament. There are many lawyers who support this petition but are not able to sign the petition due to various reasons” said Mahfooz.

In addition, he said that they will continue this movement and even will conduct sessions to aware the public. “Lawyers will work to find solutions to these problems and will allow to create an environment where everyone is able to talk without any fear” said Mahfooz Saeed.

Husnu Suood who also signed the petition said that the lawyers will soon start an awareness campaign and that they will conduct this activity till good changes are seen. Some points they lawyers noted include the remanding procedures and issuing verdicts in absentia. In addition, punishing the judges unlawfully and obtaining anonymous witness testimonies.
