Gender Ministry and UN has signed the joint workplan formed to achieve the goal set in the United Nations Development Assistant Framework (UNDAF).
In a ceremony held at Gender Ministry, Gender Minister Zenisha Shaheed Zakee signed the agreement on behalf of the ministry while Miss Shoko Noda the resident coordinator from UN to Maldives signed on behalf of UN.
The workplan has for phases and the second phase focuses on creating gender quality. The target of this phase is to provide equal opportunities for women social, business, and political aspects. The plan’s purpose is to facilitate people of both genders to live independent lives and make independent life choices.
Offices of the UN will provide information about the plan and the resources available to implement the plan.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials of Gender Ministry and representatives of UN in Maldives.
