Maldives and China have stated that both the countries give special importance to the safety and security of the Indian ocean.
In a ceremony held last night on the Chinese Navy ship Chang Chun, both countries noted that it is important to retain peace and harmony.
Speaking about the relation between the two countries, the Commander of the Chinese ship, Zen Ha said that Chinese sailors who visited Maldives 600 years ago admired Maldives. He said that today, the relation between Maldives and China is very strong and even in the long history of relations, there has been no other time like now where the relations are strong.
In addition he said that in addition to the relations between individuals and the government of two nations, the military relations are also very strong now. Zaan said that the Chinese President wants to work with all the countries and that he prioritizes the safety of these nations. He said that the joint training programs are also part of that vision of the President.
The Chief guest of the ceremony was Mohamed Zuhair the sate minister of Defense and National Security. Zuhair said that China and Maldives has strong relations and the military of both the countries have strong relations as well.
In addition he said that China assists Maldives in all sectors and most of the tourists to the Maldives are from China as well. Furthermore, he noted Chinese assistance in developing trade and economy of Maldives.
The ceremony was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Maldives Zaan Zizang and senior officials of the foreign ministry. In addition diplomats in the Maldives and senior officials of the military took part in the ceremony. Cultural items of both countries were shown in last night’s event.
